The future of life-style is the main concern of multi award-winning interior and product designer Werner Aisslinger’s work. 2003 he created the spectacular mobile cube apartment Loft Cube; 2013 he developed the Home of the Future where technology and nature almost form a kind of symbiosis. This relationship is also the main feature of the Design Hotel 25hours Bikini Berlin, created by Aisslinger and his team last year. Here breaks are orchestrated under the heading “Urban Jungle”; rough concrete hits upon oak timber, designer furniture meets vintage chic. The corridors have a club-like feel, tile combinations and colourful street art adorn the walls. And there is a proliferation of luxuriant plant life everywhere. This vibrant design with natural materials and colours presents the city as a collage – the perfect stage to show off Aisslinger’s first wallpaper collection.
The collection’s graphical designs reinterpret the theme of “tiles” in a multitude of variations. Strongly contoured textures, feint grainy lines or seemingly irregular wall areas with 3D effects are reminiscent of materials such as stone, wood or paper and open up the full creative potential of the motif. Werner Aisslinger also uses his wallpaper collection to skillfully play with the opposites of nature and urban life: Allusions to landscape profiles in a cool grey add great depth to rooms, soft designs with retro charm and bold colours make them comfortable and friendly.
Wallcoverings in crisp black, white, stone grey and brown create a modern ambience and perfectly reflect Berlin’s creative, urban spirit. Powerful blue, red and green-yellows add striking accents.
Aisslinger’s work in the areas of interior and product design has won many awards, among them are the Red Dot Award, the German Design Award and the iF gold award. He has also been awarded the title “A&W Designer des Jahres 2014” (A&W Designer of the Year 2014).
